What Is Deadpool's Favorite Movie of 2016?

To say Deadpool has had an interesting year would be an understatement. He kicked off 2016 with a top grossing movie that bares his name. He became an international superstar. And he got a pay raise for a sequel. But that came with some heartbreak too, as turmoil swirled around the impending follow-up. And things took a dark turn. Now that Deadpool 2 has an official director in place, and things look a little sunnier, Wade Wilson has decided to chat about the past 12 months, and even gives his favorite movie.

The Merc with the Mouth sat down with Empire for his expose on the year, though the magazine admits that Ryan Reynolds was there to whisper in his old friend’s ear the entire time. Little known fact, it was Wade who got the older cast of Sesame Street fired in the earlier part of 2016.

Deadpool goes onto reveal that he wasn’t paid in money. Because his film was released by Fox Studios, he was instead given big bags of cocaine. And he describes his least likely fan as being Deathstroke. The DC Comics assassin he is often compared too, who was just announced for Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman movie.

When asked what his favorite movie of the year is, Deadpool gets an assist from Ryan Reynolds, and the publication is assured this is a real answer. Drum roll please. Wade Wilson’s favorite movie of the year, no joke, is Hunt For the Wilderpeople. The comedy was directed by Thor Ragnarok’s own Taika Waititi.

Taking a turn for the absurd, though, Deadpool insists that the one movie that could have been helped by his presence is the Netflix documentary about Amanda Knox. The superhero goes onto reveal that his weirdest fan encounter came from his own pregnant wife, though this might be Ryan Reynolds talking again. Deadpool does nudge Reynolds out of the way to offer a quick tease for Deadpool 2.

“T.J. Miller snorting live mice off a mirror in the bathroom at the Minneapolis airport. Followed by a festival of handjobs. (Serious answer.) We’re adding tasteful underwear, but the point is, I’m sorry for that thing I said about burning stuff and your families. I don’t know where rage like that comes from.”

The Empire interview abruptly ends when Deadpool is asked about his New Years Eve plans. Wade Wilson won’t say, shutting up for possibly the first time in his life. All he can offer is a hearty F-U. So, there you have it. According to the most colorful superhero on the planet at the moment, It’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople that truly captured his heart.
