Earlier this month, Warner Bros. released a brief trailer for the extended cut of their second DCEU adventure, Suicide Squad, which will debut on Digital HD in just a few short weeks on November 15, before arriving on Blu-ray and DVD December 13. Today we have a second, longer trailer for this extended cut, offering brand new footage of Jared Leto’s The Joker and the rest of Task Force X. This trailer also gives us a glimpse at Katana (Karen Fukuhara) taking off her mask, and a scene where Margot Robbie’s Harleen Quinzel holds a gun to The Joker’s head, before she was truly transformed into Harley Quinn.
This scene with Harley Quinn and The Joker, which debuted on Amazon, may have been part of a scene that we saw in set photos, where Harley Quinn and The Joker are seen fighting in the street. We see Harley pull a gun on The Joker, who dares Harley to shoot him before taking the gun from her hands. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of this new footage over the next few weeks ahead of the Digital HD release.
Last week, we showed you the back side of the Suicide Squad Blu-ray cover, which confirmed there will be 11 minutes of new footage in the extended cut. No new scenes have been released for this extended cut yet, but a video debuted in August detailing a number of the deleted scenes that were hinted at in in trailers and other footage that wasn’t seen in the theatrical cut. An earlier report revealed that there will be 13 minutes of previously-unseen footage, but now it seems fans will only be getting 11 minutes.
The Blu-ray features kick-off with a preview entitled Task Force X: One Team, One Mission, where fans can discover the rich legacy of DC’s most infamous bad guys. There is also Squad Strength and Skills, which offers the “inside story” of how the cast got into shape for this movie, Joker and Harley: The ‘It’ Couple of the Underworld, which showcases The Joker and Harley Quinn’s relationship, Chasing the Real, where writer/director David Ayer reveals techniques for creating an authentic surreal world, along with a Gag Reel.
It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself? Take a look at this extended trailer for the Suicide Squad Blu-ray Extended Cut below.
