New Han Solo Trailer Is Coming Tomorrow

Just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in. The final, official full-length trailer for director Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story is dropping at some point during the day tomorrow, Sunday, April 8. How do we know this? Because Disney and Lucasfilm have shared a Tweet promoting the fact with a small teaser showing the Millennium Falcon as it soars through the cosmos evading a tentacled space monster not unlike the one we all saw at the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Solo: A Star Wars Story. Trailer Tomorrow. #HanSolo”

You can almost hear a young Anakin off in the distance screaming, ‘Yipee!’ This is exciting for some, scary for others, and just plain misery for a lot of people who think Disney and Lucasfilm are doing a disservice to the Star Wars brand with this space pirate tale that takes fans back to the beginning. Will we get to see more of Alden Ehrenreich‘s Harrison Ford impression? That’s the real question.

Fans were generally impressed with the first Super Bowl footage and teaser trailer. It looked like a Star Wars movie. A fun one at that. But everyone pretty much universally questions Alden Ehrenreich as the ol’ smoothy. Was he the right guy? Was there a right guy? Should Lucasfilm have just mapped their digital Harrison Ford clone over someone else’s face and body? Maybe Han should have just gotten his four movies, and then we call it quits. Nope.

Earlier this week, Disney and Lucasfilm made the surprise announcement that Solo would be playing Cannes, which came as a shock to some. Surely it’s good if they’re showing it at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, right? Ah, who knows at this point. Disney and Lucasfilm had this to say in their big announcement about it.

“Lucasfilm announced that Solo: A Star Wars Story, the newest adventure taking place in the Star Wars galaxy, has been selected to screen at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival in Official Selection and Out of Competition during the film festival’s run, May 8-19, 2018. Director Ron Howard is expected to attend along with cast members Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller, Joonas Suotamo and Paul Bettany.”

Well, isn’t that special? Solo: A Star Wars Story makes the jump to light speed in a high-octane adventure that navigates the perils of a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, forges new friendships that will last a lifetime, and reveals untold secrets from the hidden past of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes. Han Solo meets loyal co-pilot Chewbacca and notorious gambler Lando Calrissian for the first time, bound by a desperate mission against impossible odds that will help shape the irresistible scoundrel audiences have come to love.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the second film in the Star Wars story series, following Rogue One, which opened in December 2016, and has garnered worldwide box office receipts of over $1 billion dollars. The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel. Lawrence Kasdan, Jason McGatlin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are the executive producers. Jonathan Kasdan & Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screenplay. Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018. May the Force be with it, and us.
