Kong: Skull Island Preview Counts Down to New Trailer

Back on Thursday, Warner Bros. revealed the first photo that gave us our best look yet at the iconic King Kong from the upcoming Kong: Skull Island. We also learned yesterday that the second trailer is coming Wednesday, November 16, with the arrival of a brief trailer preview. Today we have yet another trailer preview, which offers a brief glimpse at King Kong in action, as the countdown towards the new trailer continues.

Back in June, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts revealed that Kong: Skull Island will feature the largest version of King Kong ever seen on the big screen. The director teased the movie will feature a “100-foot ape,” and this new trailer preview, that was released on Twitter, shows King Kong roaring while a number of Army helicopters circle around the massive ape. It seems likely that the studio will release even more trailer previews as the countdown continues to the first trailer.

Earlier this year, rumors surfaced that Toby Kebbell, who has been winning rave reviews for his motion capture work in both Warcraft and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is actually playing King Kong himself in Skull Island, but that isn’t exactly true. While the actor did provide certain facial references for King Kong, Terry Notary, an actor, stunt coordinator, and motion capture expert who worked with Kebbell on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is actually playing King Kong. Hopefully we’ll get our first look at this massive creature quite soon.

In the spirit of its worldwide blockbuster Godzilla, Legendary Pictures presents a bold new take on the mythos of another iconic beast with Kong: Skull Island, which stars Tom Hiddleston.  Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla), Kong: Skull Island will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.  Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.

Kong: Skull Island also features an international ensemble cast including Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham and Eugene Cordero. Thomas Tull (Godzilla, The Dark Knight, Pacific Rim) and Jon Jashni (Godzilla, Warcraft) will produce and Alex Garcia (Godzilla) will executive produce. This movie will also set up Godzilla vs. King Kong, which has been set for release on May 29, 2020. Take a look at this new preview for the second Kong: Skull Island trailer below.
